Will Entropia Universe Survive Long Enough to Actually Launch on UE5?

I’ve been playing Entropia Universe for years, and lately I can’t shake one question:

Will the game actually make it to Unreal Engine 5 before the ecosystem collapses?

Right now the in-game economy feels like it’s on life support.
We’re seeing:

  • Almost no new players coming in
  • Prices dropping across the board
  • Items sitting on auction for days (or not selling at all)
  • A noticeable decline in overall activity

The problem is that Entropia lives and dies by player liquidity. If people stop joining, stop depositing, stop trading — the entire real-cash economy becomes stagnant. And that’s exactly what seems to be happening.

Meanwhile, MindArk keeps teasing the UE5 update like it’s right around the corner, but after years of silence, delays, and confusing messaging… it’s hard to stay optimistic. UE5 could revive the game — fresh graphics, new marketing, modern systems — but only if it actually arrives before it’s too late.

My concern is simple:

At the current rate of player decline, will there even be a functioning economy left when UE5 finally launches?

I’m genuinely curious how others feel about this.
Do you think:

  1. UE5 will release in time to save the game?
  2. The economy can bounce back with better marketing?
  3. Or are we watching Entropia slowly fade out?

Would love to hear honest thoughts — especially from long-time players and traders who see what’s happening every day.

New Starter Packs

Greetings Colonists, As many of you will be aware, we have been working to overhaul many of the packages and offerings available through our webshop. These new and modified packages will roll out in stages, with the first stage being the replacement of the Starter Packs. These are now available in the webshop . What's Changed? With our new Starter Packs, along with the upcoming Starter Kits, we had a few goals in mind for the redesign: To make the choice of pack simple and less confusing To keep the price points relatively low To keep the contents of the packs focused To make the stats of the equipment more impactful and more cost effective to use Approximately, using the new starter pack guns are over 50% cheaper per hour of play in regards to rate of ammo and decay consumption in comparison to the old Z12 Barbarella (via increased DPP). This makes it better for new players - and a great option for low-deposit players alike. We also opted to include a melee weapon i...

Has anyone else noticed the player base growing?

We obviously don't get accurate counts from Mindark on the size of the active player base, but it FEELS like it's been growing a bit. I've been using the number of Calypso auction pages as a benchmark for awhile now. I've seen it as low as 600 pages in the last few years, and it's been hovering around 700 pages for maybe a year or so, but today I see that it is currently at 804. This obviously doesn't take into account other planet activity, but Calypso is definitely growing and is around a high for at least the last year, maybe a couple more. Sure, Mayhem just ended, so everyone is selling off their loot, so we'll see if the trend continues over the next few months, but it did catch my attention, none-the-less. Anecdotally, I have been seeing more players out in the wild than I have in some time, too. So what do you think? Have you noticed this too? Is it UE5 hype driving the growth? Or am I just seeing things? submitted by /u/DoubleWolf [link] ...
